E2: Anniversary Dinner

We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary at Emeril's Charlotte restaurant called e2. Here's the linky link.

Of course my lovely hubby called ahead and told them it was our anniversary and since it was a Wednesday night, the place was ours!

They first brought out cornbread which was okay. But then they brought out potato bread which was amazing. I spoiled myself and had one bite to check it out - it was like heaven. This restaurant offers a gluten free menu by the way!

For starters we split the house salad and got the andoulle sausage and boudin sausage appetizer (I am sure I have misspelled these words) which was served with black eyed peas.

I am going to start cutting my carrots this small. They were delightful.

For the main course I ordered Shrimp and Grits.... my favorite! I even brought half home with me! It was topped with these long mushrooms and onions and corner and pure heaven!

Dave ordered the trout with came with two large pieces, black kale, and potatoes. He loved it.

They offered us a dessert menu but we were stuffed.... so they brought us a cute decorated plate with grapefruit sorbet to share. So sweet! The service, just like at Emeril's in New Orleans, was impeccable. We had not one but two waiters... and the manager.... working with us. We felt very special!

And we forgot to take a picture at dinner so in classic Dave and Emily fashion we took one in the parking garage on our way home lol.

The Broome's Wedding

These are our friends Lindsay and Phil. They got married in March in downtown Charlotte at the Foundation for the Carolina's building. Their wedding was New Orleans themed as that's where Phil   is from. You can see more pics and read about the wedding in this month's Carolina Bride magazine.

*my blogger isn't working right now so bare with me-no links and not able to type directly in posts-ugh!*

Our weekend at Fearrington Village

This weekend we were in Pittsboro NC for a friend's wedding. They were married in Fearrington Village which is coincidentally where Dave's uncle lives! We went up on Saturday morning - it's about a two hour drive from Charlotte.

There are these little artsy wind contraptions at several areas of Fearrington.

There is great shopping. This is McIntyre's bookstore. It was great! We got a book for our friend's who are having a baby girl in October.

This is a gift, interier design, and girly shop called Dovecot and The Belted Goat - which is a coffee and sandwich shop. I would love the live in this neighborhood! They had a chopped salad bar here, live music and they had THE BEST yogurt parfet!

Everything in cows here! Fearrington is known for their black and white striped Galloway cows.

We had lunch at the Granary. Dave got a burger and fries..... Yummm.
The Inn at the Fearrington has a restaurant that is 5 star so all other restaurants on the grounds have the same 5 star chefs so the food is out of this world amazing!

I got a salad with salmon, sweet potatoes, pears, candied walnuts and a lemon vinagarette - oh and blue cheese!! It was awesome although I regretted the cheese decision later - gosh I love cheese!

Dave walking with Uncle Blue.

This is inside the book store - cozy right?

Here is where the wedding reception would take place later that night.

Great view! The silo marks the entrance to the Fearrington Village.

The wedding would take place on the other side of this garden. Landscaping was gorgeous here!

Not only do they have striped cows, that have striped goats. Or atleast that is what they were going for - some are just black and white spots.

This goat was preggie.

I thought this little tike was posting for a picture but he was really just peeing. lol

The cows!

Cows hugging.

There were misting spouts over this block and they loved to stand under them.

Entrance.

Here the wedding! It was hotter than blue blazes.

Note poor Dave and the back of his knees! HOT.

This was the reception at the Fearrington barn. Gorgeous!

They had bobble heads of themselves for their cake topper!

Just like the food everywhere else - it was nothing short of delicious at the reception! They even had shrimp & grits with andoulle sausage - which was my favorite! Oh and the beet goat cheese salad! I need to learn how to make both of these.

I always love checking out the center pieces. These were very earthy and fit the barn feel!
