Fahrenheit

For our anniversary this week we went to Fahrenheit, a new restaurant in Charlotte that is perched a top a hotel downtown. We had heard good things about the place so we thought we would try it out on a special occasion

Sadly, we were a little disappointed. We started with cocktails, I got the special which was a red apple martini with a salted caramel rim - it was terrible. Dave ordered the Spicy Charlotte and it was also terrible....

We decided not to go the appetizer route and order salads for our starter. Little did we know that the salads would be ABSOLUTELY ENORMOUS. My salad above was the kale salad. It was really good however was a bit overdressed.

Poor Dave ordered the calamari salad which was GIANT. It was basically calamari sitting on a bag of mixed greens you would buy at the store. It was ridiculous.

LUCKILY, the star of this show was my meal.... the salmon a top wasabi mashed potatoes. Could have done without the bag of mixed greens though. Dave got the Kobe beef short ribs which were served with lo mein noodles.... it was fantastic but a huge portion so he took almost all of it home.

If we were to go back, we would definitely order an appetizer with two salads or just appetizers or split a salad and do our own entrees.... annnnd stick to cocktails we are familiar with.

The fun part of the restaurant is it has a great view of the city and a nice balcony that you can hang out on.

And of course, being called Fahrenheit, there are two big fire pits outside.

I'm Here!

Well I had my 3rd IUI on Friday. Everything went okay but it was more painful than I was used to. My acupuncturist suggested I relax and work from home the rest of the day - so I thought, why not? Might as well! I had major cramping all weekend and just tried to relax and now.... it's Monday again! It's a good thing though - I think I was falling into a lazy rut! LOL. I did watch some terrible TV over the weekend - the movie Gone - was, awful and so was the movie, Dream House. Also terrible was the show Real Housewives of Melbourne - I'm not sure where they got these women from but the 90's wants them back. I watched Baby Boom, one of my all time favorite movies so that was a guaranteed crowd pleaser! And I started the 3rd book from the Divergent series, Allegiant, which is set up differently from the other two books but still just as good.  Also, Charlotte just got a Smash Burger which Dave and I tried out on Sunday. I had the avocado burger and it was DELISH. Dave wasn't fond of their fries, they are rosemary and sea salt fries. I liked them though!

Pisces Sushi

My "book club" (but not really) went to eat at Pisces sushi the other night and everyone enjoyed their meals!

I ordered a sushi roll recommended on Yelp called the "Screaming O Roll"... Haha. It was spicy but really good!

Ashley ordered the Spicy Garlic Edamame and it was soooo good!

Merris and Ash ordered the tuna entree that was topped with a seaweed salad.

Christy and Jen both ordered hibachi with their famed garlic noodles.

Then for dessert they shared tempura fried Oreos and green tea icecream!

It's a fun place to go with your girlfriends!

So behind!

Hello! Oh my goodness! Things have been SO busy!
We had a fun weekend last weekend! We tried out a new place in our good called pizza peel...it was DELICIOUS... Dave got the chicken sandwich with homemade chips and a yummy dip!

I got their gluten free pizza. It's the best I've had! I got the red and white pizza which had sundried tomatoes and ricotta cheese.

We also split the peel salad that was AMAZING.

Earlier that day my friend Ashley and I went to the Farmer's Market. They always have beautiful bouquets of flowers that are hard to resist.

This is a sign that summer is around the corner!

I got a TON of veggies for just $10! The prices are ridiculous.

Dave and I have been looking at plant options for the front of the house. While at the nursery I saw these cute fairy gardens! A girl and her mom were putting theirs together while we were there. It was sweet.

And on Sunday Funday I got up watch this lil lady! We had a good time!

E2: Anniversary Dinner

We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary at Emeril's Charlotte restaurant called e2. Here's the linky link.

Of course my lovely hubby called ahead and told them it was our anniversary and since it was a Wednesday night, the place was ours!

They first brought out cornbread which was okay. But then they brought out potato bread which was amazing. I spoiled myself and had one bite to check it out - it was like heaven. This restaurant offers a gluten free menu by the way!

For starters we split the house salad and got the andoulle sausage and boudin sausage appetizer (I am sure I have misspelled these words) which was served with black eyed peas.

I am going to start cutting my carrots this small. They were delightful.

For the main course I ordered Shrimp and Grits.... my favorite! I even brought half home with me! It was topped with these long mushrooms and onions and corner and pure heaven!

Dave ordered the trout with came with two large pieces, black kale, and potatoes. He loved it.

They offered us a dessert menu but we were stuffed.... so they brought us a cute decorated plate with grapefruit sorbet to share. So sweet! The service, just like at Emeril's in New Orleans, was impeccable. We had not one but two waiters... and the manager.... working with us. We felt very special!

And we forgot to take a picture at dinner so in classic Dave and Emily fashion we took one in the parking garage on our way home lol.

Viva Chicken!

We tried out this new place in our neighborhood. It's very different but very good! Oh and healthy too!

Although it was hot, we chose to sit on they're really neat patio.

Dave got their chicken sandwich with a side of white rice.

I got the chicken salad. Yumm.

The Broome's Wedding

These are our friends Lindsay and Phil. They got married in March in downtown Charlotte at the Foundation for the Carolina's building. Their wedding was New Orleans themed as that's where Phil   is from. You can see more pics and read about the wedding in this month's Carolina Bride magazine.

*my blogger isn't working right now so bare with me-no links and not able to type directly in posts-ugh!*

This weekend

We went to 10 Park Lanes with friends, Josh and Jenn. The guys played hot shot... Dave won 2 out of 3!

Then we ate dinner which I didn't get a picture of but it was super yummy! Jenn and I got the great Shrimp salad that had pickled ginger, goat cheese and a lot of other goodness on it! While eating dinner they will text you when your lane is ready-haha! So hi-tech!

The guys played 4 games and Josh won all of them lol. He is an experienced bowler!

Dave was not happy about all of Josh's winning!

Funny shoes!

Then on Sunday we met my dad and step mom at Napa on Providence. I looooove this place!

The most delish Bloody Mary!

I ordered the seafood Cobb and it.was.amazing.

Dave got the short ribs sandwich and garlic fries. He raved about it!

Then this girl got her fro-yo on while we hunted for an iPhone 5 case for yes, my new phone that I also got this weekend!

Well hello there gorgeous.

I love this case that the hubs got me! I kinda wish I'd gotten the black phone because the front of the case is black buuuuut oh well! We got the one below just in case the Kate Spade wasn't as " safe" as Dave wants it to be lol. This week will be our trial week!
