911 Dogs

I realize that I'm a week late on this post but I loved seeing some of these sweet dogs now that worked so hard to find people during the 911 tragedy.

Help Lita

I know that this photo is disturbing but I had to post about this sweet dog. She is an irish setter/chocolate lab mix with horrible mange and she was thrown from a car in SC. You can read more about her below. I donated to help her and I think that donations are up to about $400 right now. The caretaker needs $2,000 for Vet costs. Please donate or share if you can.

This sweet girl was seen being thrown from a MOVING CAR!!!! Yes, someone actually called animal control. When they got there what they found is horrible. She is bleeding from all over her body, including her nose. She has one of the most HORRIFIC cases of MANGE on her face we’ve ever seen. Her skin is cracking and bleeding. We don’t know the extent of her injuries from being thrown, but know she will have a LONG road to recovery. She is being taken to our vet now. Please chip in to help us save her. If you can’t donate, please cross post and share!!! We will need a LOT of help for her! All donations are tax deductible, as our group Paws and Claws is a registered 501c3 organization.

HELP Sgt. Rex!

This is such a special story. Corp. Megan and Rex the dog worked together in Iraq to find bombs. They were both hurt together and were in rehab together. Now Megan wants to adopt the 10 yr old dog because he can no longer be of service to the military but they won't let her. So we need YOU to sign the petition to let Megan have Rex!!! Weekend in GA

One of my best friend's, Miss Lucille, had an Around the Clock themed shower in GA this past weekend. This was the very very fun and creative show cake! My assigned time was 9pm and knowing how much Luc loves her nightly baths, I got her a towel set and a shower poof! hehe. The apps were delish and a favorite was the above cornbread/ham/cheese sammy. Since there were a few kiddos at the shower, they hostesses made some gourmet pigs in a blanket hehe.
This is the view outside Luc's house! She wakes up and lets the dogs out and gets to see horses! She and her fiance live on 5 acres of land out in the country in GA! Aren't the horses cute with their coats on? ha.
This is miss Gracie the Boston Terrier. When Luc and Greg met, they both had Boston Terriers - they were meant to be! This is my friend waking me up in the morning - check out those ears! In college we would take Gracie for a walk on campus but because she was so small as a pup and because it was cold in the mountains - she would "ride" in our coats and we would walk LOL.
On my way home I went to a fireworks store for sparklers for Luc's wedding! This was my second time at a store but my FIRST time by myself! And in the winter! LOL I was needless to say, the only shopper. lol

And THIS is where Luc is getting married in March! Can't wait!

Puppy Showers

So today I see on Facebook that an aquaintance of mine has attended a "Puppy Shower" and I thought.... "Brilliant!". At this particlar shower they had "Muttgaritas", "Pupcakes", and cucumber sandwiches cut in the shape of doggie bones! Some other ideas I found online were cute invitations (which you could make yourself with the help of Michael's) and making your own doggie treats as a guest gift for them to take home to their pups! As for gifts, some ideas given are:

Leash
Collar (try Pattern&Paw or IsabellaCane which is my FAVORITE in style or Orvis which I love because you can embroider your Dog's name and phone number onto the collar and not have to hear the clinging of their dog tags!Crate (gosh this one is kind of like registering for a baby stroller!)
Water and food bowls
Bed (ditto to above.. crib!)
Food
Toys
Bones
Grooming implements (brush, nail clippers, shampoo, toothbrush, ear cleaning kit, etc.) *Training - a good one for everyone to chip in on and then bring something small to the party! At Petsmart they have puppy training for $100/8 sessions. It's definitely worth it! :)

I also found these great gifts finds online as well! These come in handy, I know I have used them in the past! Pets are messy eaters and love to splurp up that water! I would definitely put a peice of plastic underneath though - you don't want to rot those hard wood floors! Even a Vinal Floor cloth would work too.http://www.blissmonogramming.com/floorcloth.html

Signs for when you're out with your pet :)

Having a dog is an expense and there's so much to buy when getting a puppy that I think this would be a great idea. And even better, it's an excuse to get together with friends and have a party!
