Birthday Bash Prep

My Big 3-0 Birthday Bash was this past Saturday and it was definitely a memorable party! We had a great time and Dave did an awesome job planning the big day. Leading up to the event, we did a few things to doll up the house a bit!  Our first stop was Lowe's for some fun flowers.

If you've been to Lowe's recently you may notice that they have these grab n' go already made bundles of flowers that you just have to place in a pot and you are done. That's my kind of gardening. I planted two of these to sit on either side of our front steps.

This little guy went out back and I am proud to say that I put it together myself. Brees even liked it (I hope she doesn't eat it).

Our lovely new Spring wreath designed by the MIL. (I promise I tucked the yellow flowers in on the right side Beth! I just don't have an updated picture - it still looks marvelous though!)

Trying out my new boxwood and planter.

Dave painted the cornhole boards that he got last year for his birthday. He ordered this great Saints decals! He even treated the wood for wear and tear. He was very pleased with the outcome of his project!

More party pics to come...

Chalkboard Paint!

I have kept several pewter trays of my mom's and I would love to make these chalk boards out of them as they are a bit scratched up and never used. I bought chalkboard paint last night at Lowe's and sponge brush so I hope to post pics of my beauties by the end of the week! I still need to get chalk! LOL.

I just love this iPhone app, Instagram! Above are flowers from the wedding we went to this weekend, don't they look very cottage-y?"The house that built me" - drove by my old house this weekend, made it look very cool with the app's help!

Pillowcase Dresses

For some summer fun!
Cute pillow case dress, with some added fabric and flair for Halloween.
The big thing to do is to use pillowcases lined with lace. Also, can't you see a little on wearing this as a flower girl?

Love these dresses that, from what i hear, are very easy to make!

Check out these patriotic printouts and place cards!

Having a summer cookout? I think I might need to print some of these for July 4th weekend!

Another baby shower!

I did my typical clothes-line of baby clothes gift except this time I used a basket that would be perfect for baby's books! The shower was for a co-worker and the baby girl's name is Avery, cute!

My DIY mossy monogram!

Okay so it still needs to be trimmed up on the right side BUT c'mon, it still looks good for a first timer! It was a lot of work too....... but I really love the look and want to make another one soon!

Supplies were:

Letter M or your chosen monogram printed off on computer paper and blown up on copier

Scissors - to cut our your letter

A sharp knife, razor, or old turkey cutter to cut out your letter

Green foam from Michael's - they have all sizes and I chose the thickest but I think next time I will choose a thinner foam as this was tough to cut through!

Two bags of moss (Michael's) - they have several types but I liked this one best (it is really messy and kind of smells)

Glue sticks and glue gun (next time I am going to try a glue spray as I used a lot of glue sticks)

Hair spray (to spray the final product so it stays put!)

And voila! You've got your mossy monogram! Do you think I should start an Esty store called that? Selling these? Might be a lucrative business... thoughts?

Patterns that I enjoy

Hello Kate Spade :) Love the accent wall, think that the bed needs solid green instead of the pattern - this pattern is so heavy that it really can be overdone if you're not careful!
I think I would like this more if the walls were divided into 1/2 pattern and 1/2 solid paint in a matching green or a mustard yellow
Imperial Trellis
This was from a salon I was at recently - I love how they did stripes in matte and gloss. I think it would be pretty in a baby's room but done in pink or green. The gloss reminds me of candy! The chandelier is from Craigslist. She had 4 different ones hanging, all under $100 dollars, all from Craigslist, all painted black.
The Chevron Rug from West Elm (available in red, orange, black and brown)
Quatrefoil, dots and stripes
Quatrefoil template (painted walls to look like wallpaper)

That dresser....

The dresser I referred to in my last post also comes with a night stand and a desk. The desk can easily be replaced by mine which is more modern and in storage at this moment in time. However, the other two items we may be able to save. Check out how this blogger did just that with her laminated furniture. I like the pattern and the colors however, not diggin' the hardware. That's easy to change though...
