Beatification (blessing) of Pope John Paul II

Did anyone happy to catch this on CNN early Sunday morning? I guess it was the Catholic in me that was intrigued and the random Brees wakeup call at 4am.... but it was something really interesting to witness on tv. This Pope who passed away 6 years ago has been on the road to sainthood. In the process of blessing him which is the last step before he continues on to sainthood, they had a painting revealed, his coffin out, and a vile of his blood which of course was dried but in the most beautiful holder. The service was really something to see. If you'd like to know more about it - here is the information on BBC's website"

Pope Benedict XVI has begun a mass in Rome for the beatification of the late Pope, John Paul II - the last stage before sainthood.

Choirs sung and crowds applauded as the Pope arrived in St Peter's Square for the ceremony.

The BBC's Duncan Kennedy, who is in Rome, said John Paul II's coffin would be move to a more prominent place.
